Crain's Cleveland is reporting that 85 newsroom employees of The Akron Beacon Journal may be preparing to strike.
According to a statement by The Akron Newspaper Guild, the Akron daily newspaper’s management is asking the guild to accept concessions that equal about a 25% to 30% decrease in wages and benefits, including about a 17% pay cut, a pension freeze, a larger share of health care costs and a change to sick pay that would be worse than Walmart offers.
