Contractors wearing green T-shirts and ball caps will begin distributing nearly 4 million compact fluorescent light bulbs door to door in FirstEnergy Corp.'s territory.
Wearing T-shirts that say ''The Big Idea,'' the people will hang bags containing two compact fluorescent bulbs on door handles for customers of Ohio Edison, Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. and Toledo Edison.
Good stuff. Details over at Ohio.com {Thank you Betty-Lin Fisher!)
Stop! Update! Maybe they are not as FREE as they were first announced. Read this thread over at Newsnet5.com

Please tell me you did more research on this. According to other reports, customers will be charged over $20 for these bulbs on their bills for the cost of the bulbs, home delivery (for something the consumer did not order or purchase) and the delivery of the power consumers would have used if they didn't have them.
And you can't opt out. I have my entire house lit with CFL's and I don't want their bulbs. And charging for power I WON'T BE USING - this has to be illegal.
